Founder | Michelle Mercier

At the center of Aleros is Michelle Mercier—a designer and contractor whose work is informed by a rich and multidimensional creative background.

Her foundation in design is both academic and experiential, with formal studies in fashion design, interior design, and international studies. Her creative perspective has been shaped through extensive travel across Europe, South America, and Mexico—exploring architecture, textiles, color theory, and cultural design influences firsthand.

Michelle’s early career reflects a deep immersion in the arts. She worked as a costume designer for theater in Philadelphia, contributed Filitalia International, and went on to design, own, and operate a bar in South Philadelphia—an experience that refined her understanding of both spatial design and operational flow.

This breadth of experience allows her to approach every project with a rare balance of creativity and practicality—designing spaces that are not only visually compelling, but also intuitive, ergonomic, and built for real life.

Craftsmanship & Foundation

Michelle’s expertise is also deeply rooted in hands-on construction. Raised in a family of tradesmen, she learned the industry from the ground up—working alongside her father, a carpenter & welder, and her stepfather, a roofer and remodeler. From early job site exposure to managing business operations and estimates, she developed a comprehensive understanding of both the craft and the business behind it.

This dual perspective—creative and technical—defines Aleros Design & Build today.
